The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) addresses issues of prime concern to the global arena. It aims at maintaining the peace of the world, and while encouraging discussions on threats to security (like wars, terrorism, and disasters), it holds the power to take quick actions – with or without force.
Soumya Basu has been a Model UN enthusiast for well over six years now, primarily because of his interest in the functioning of the UN. Moving away from a competitive platform, he looks forward for a holistic development of an individual through the platform of Model UN. Having chaired conferences in Dhaka, Kathmandu, Singapore, Hamburg, Astana, Beirut, Addis Ababa, and of course, India, he looks forward to bring a global sense of responsibility in the youth of India. Professionally he works as a patent prosecutor in Delhi, and he is an engineering graduate by education.
Mr. Abhradeep is a Mechanical Engineer graduate from KIIT University. Having done more than 60 conferences nationally and Internationally, he believes Model UN is the ideal way to endorse the need for diplomacy amongst the young minds. He has been part of the Model UN circuit for last 3 years now and has been part of SRM MUN for 4 years now. He was the Co-President of UNSC for SRM MUN 2017 as well. As an Executive Board, he equally believes that such simulations bring the best out of an individual which helps them in the longer run.
Kanhav Hatwal Tyagi is currently a B.Tech final year student, pursuing his degree in the field of Information and Telecommunications engineering from SRM University in Chennai. He has taken part in numerous model united nations conferences, taking a keen interest in the UNSC. He has been a part of various MUN circuits in India - Chennai, Coimbatore and Pune to name a few. He has had a life long love for debating; his first tryst with the stage coming at 8 years of age. In his spare time he pursues his passion for photography.
